VAR Magazine Launch Event

A fashion magazine like no other, VAR Magazine celebrated the release its first printed edition of their publication at Wooster Street Social Club on Sunday, April 15th. Some of you may have heard of this venue from the popular TLC reality television show “NY Ink.” Now, some of you might be wondering why a fashion magazine would be partnering with a tattoo shop, but trust us it is only natural that VAR Magazine would do so. Unlike other fashion magazines, VAR wants to help introduce a new era of tattoo culture, art, music, lifestyle and a love of body art.
Rank My Dentist has sponsored this event because we are here for more than just helping you rate a dentist and read dentists reviews. We want the visitors of our site to see a lot more than just the latest technology in dental work, but to experience some culture and art at the same time. This event is the launch VAR’s brilliant vision of tattoo and body art into our mainstream culture. They want to influence and inspire society to realize that there is art all around them. This is why VAR’s first issue is focusing on the desire for easy access for the readers and fans while returning to the tradition of fine art’s elite status as a physical object by publishing this edition with icon Dave Navarro.

Every year thousands of women are physically abused by their partner. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, about 1.5 million people end up experiencing physical abuse from a spouse or intimate partner every year. Reports of domestic violence have risen over the past few years leaving more and more women broken on the inside and out. These women end up feeling alone, unsafe and bruised in every way possible, and their transition back into a normal life is not an easy one. They must go through countless hours to help heal their psychological and mental wounds, but often time these sessions are of no use because of the physical scars that remind them of their horrible ordeal still exist. Many of these women do not have the money to pay for the cosmetic procedures to help remove these scars, which often consist of broken teeth and a shattered smile.
On May 27, 1999 the Give Back A Smile (GBAS) Charity Program was launched, opening up the doors for many of these women to get their smile back. Through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation (AACDCF) their mission is to help restore the dignity of the heroic women who left their abusive relationships through compassionate, pro-bono cosmetic dentistry. Top Cosmetic Dentists from all over the States volunteer to help these women, and thanks to them the program has succeeded in helping over a thousand women in regaining their smiles.

We have all heard about the devastating tragedy which struck the island nation of Haiti in 2010. A 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the country with such force that has left many people homeless and injured. The capital city of Port-au-Prince was left in ruins and various outreach and volunteer groups flew over there to help get the city back into shape. As part of the effort to help get better health care into the country Rank My Dentist helped sponsor a team of 12 people, many of them students and faculty from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and New York University College of Dentistry, to collect data from the Haitian island of Île à Vache’s population’s dental health and knowledge.

Inspired by parents who work in the field of dentistry, the three Rubinshtein brothers created RankMyDentist.com in 2009, a website dedicated to educating both patients and dentists.
The oldest brother Daniel, the CEO of Rank My Dentist LLC and a student at New York University College of Dentistry, seeks to broaden the minds of dentists so that they realize that not only is filling and drilling important, but so is representing dentistry as a brand, because it is a business too.
Geoffrey, the middle brother, is the COO. He previously worked on his parents’ dental website, and understands that having a well-built site is imperative in growing a dental practice. Geoffrey uses his artistic sense and keen attention to detail to provide a site everyone will want to use.
The youngest brother and CFO, Brandon, has worked with his parents to educate patients about the significance of oral and dental hygiene. The goal of the website is to inform patients because the more knowledgeable a patient is, the more people can prevent dental and health related problems.
